History repeating: Harnessing the past for a net zero future

23 Oct 2024
Inspiration

Join leading political historian Robert Saunders to explore how historical precedents can inform today's net zero strategies. By exploring modern British history, including Margaret Thatcher's campaign to save the ozone layer and the UK’s response to acid rain, the session will look at how social change, effective protests, and political consensus building have previously delivered successful environmental policies – and what lessons that history may hold for the net zero transition.

Speakers
Robert Saunders - Reader in British History, Queen Mary University of London and Co-Director of the Mile End Institute
